I specialize in making small leather goods such as purses, journal covers, business card cases, wallets, luggage/bag tags, checkbook covers, zippered pouches and bookmarks.

Leather is a very versatile durable material. It comes in a wide variety of colors, textures and finishes. I love leather and enjoy working with it to create high quality, fun and useful leather items in my NE Ohio studio. I often add embroidery designs to or embellish the leather with special paint to create one-of-a-kind pieces.

Vintage Consew 227R
This is "Rose", (as named by the previous owner) , a vintage Consew 227R industrial walking foot sewing machine made in Japan by the Seiko Company. She is one of the machines I use to make some of the leather creations.
You will find of some of my leather works available for sale at the Northside Marketplace in Akron.

Bessie Hyde Leather Works
Some of my handcrafted pieces are fashioned from transformed materials. A once out-of-date leather, suede or fur coat can be given a new life.
Since items may be constructed from previously enjoyed items, any imperfections are part of the nature and charm of the leather and adds to the character of the finished product.
Some people like leather but chose not to purchase for environmental reasons. Buying articles made from up-cycled goods is the perfect solution while still staying green.
I also offer custom leather working and embroidery services. I would love to make a unique leather piece for you or for that someone special.
